Is it reasonable not to be (initially) sceptic about religion?

The audio clip attached discusses the following:

Why is reasoning about why people believe what they do frowned upon? Is it reasonable to believe whatever is classified as church doctrine without questioning anything? What would then make one religion different to another, if none of them can stand up to careful scrutiny?

1 Pet 3:15 … always be ready to defend your confidence in God when anyone asks you to explain it. However, make your defense with gentleness and respect.

Relating to evolution…
– Evolution requires that the information encoded in DNA originated from matter, though Einstein agreed that “there is no way that matter can produce information”.
– Evolution requires millions of intermediary fossils (showing a ‘change in progress’ of e.g. a species without an eye and eventually with the newly evolved eye) to exist, but none has ever been found.
